Jonathan Fine is the owner of Fine Gold Productions (“FGP”); a licensing, management and product development company. FGP manages producers including Steven “Lenky” Marsden (Sean Paul, Wayne Wonder). FGP also produces DVD’s and compilations, which have exceeded sales of 2 million units. FGP’s licensing division, which includes representation of George Clinton and the reggae label Greensleeves, places music into film, TV, trailers and advertising campaigns. Previously, Fine was Director A&R for Island Records, Q/Atlantic, K-tel International and Robbins Entertainment/BMG. He has worked with and on projects for Lumidee, Wyclef Jean, Beenie Man, Fat Man Scoop, The Fu-Schnickens, Dawn Robinson of En Vogue and Joey McIntyre. Recently, Fine was the music supervisor for the fall 2006 film release of National Lampoon’s Pledge This! (Universal).
Fine has been a NYC club promoter and DJ (The World, Save The Robots, Palladium, MK, Milky Way), and radio host (WNYU), and journalist (CMJ). He was the co-founder and organizer of the New Music Seminar’s DJ & MC Battle for World Supremacy. At WNYU he interviewed acts such as LL Cool J, Public Enemy, X, The Ramones, Mantronix and KRS-One. At The World he promoted shows for the likes of Schooly D, Biz Markie, and Heavy D. In the 80’s he was a fixture on the Manhattan club scene and was responsible for helping bring hip-hop to the Downtown scene.
He is currently an Adjunct Professor in Music Business at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and a former instructor at SUNY Oneonta and guest lecturer at the Berklee College of Music in Boston and Baruch College in New York City. Mr. Fine holds both a Bachelors Degree in accounting and finance and a Masters Degree in arts administration, from New York University (Stern and Steinhardt). He is currently a member of the Dance Music Hall of Fame and is a voting member of NARAS (Grammy).
